Day 2: Support Local! 12 Thoughts of Christmas

Updated: Apr 20, 2021

This year, many businesses have taken a hit from the impact of COVID19, especially local small businesses all around the world.

I was very fortunate to be able to adapt my training model to keep training my clients, and even more fortunate to have such fantastic clients that were determined to continue training and did everything they could to support me and my business.

In a lot of ways, I was better off through the hardest parts of the COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions, but even for me it was a hard time, and the impact on my business came a bit later, once we got to trade as usual.

I know I’m not the only local business that suffered, and I definitely didn’t suffer as much as most. So, today's thought of Christmas is to support your local businesses over the Christmas period.

Buy gifts from the local markets, and specialty stores.

Get your groceries from your local independent fresh food market, butcher or deli.

Get gift vouchers for the local café’s, pubs, beauty salons, and massage therapists.

It might take a little more thought and planning, but you’ll be helping your community’s entrepreneurs survive another year, or employ more local staff, or add to their services. Not to mention it’ll help them to make the most of the rest of the year and enjoy their time with their friends and families.

I’m fortunate enough to know many local business owners in my area, so if you are also in my area (Perth’s eastern suburbs in the hills) here are just a few suggestions, in case you’re stuck for Christmas gift ideas!

Shell’s Health and Beauty

To say Shell's is just a beauty salon in the hills would be a gross understatement! The girls there are some of the most passionate health and beauty professionals I have come across, and we're just fortunate enough to have them here in the hills! Shell's health and beauty offer a huge, ever-expanding range of products and services, ranging from a simple wax or manicure to some of the latest cutting edge face and body treatments available. Whether you have skin concerns or just want to spoil yourself (or your loved ones) they have something for you! Check out their website here or get your gift vouchers here

Club Sierra

Club Sierra is the Eastern Hills' oldest and biggest gym, and it still has that old, welcoming community feel to it. With a gym, pool, spa, sauna, squash courts, creche, the facilities are great. Offering a huge timetable of fitness classes, swimming lessons, and personal training (Pick me!), there really is something for everyone. Christmas vouchers are available at reception and you can check out their website here.

Still Point Therapy

Whenever my clients tell me about their niggles, aches, and pains, chances are, I'll send them to Flora. Flora is much more than a remedial massage therapist. She trained in France as an Osteopath and she has never stopped adding to her skills. She has an incredible knowledge of the body and an abundance of treatment techniques. No matter what you see her for, you'll be feeling better soon after. Check out her website here, and contact her directly for vouchers.

Tenjune Hair Studio

Not quite in the hills (they're in Midland), but I couldn't not include Tenjune! Fallon has done my hair for many years now, and she's the one behind all of my incredible colours! I know I'm biased, but she's definitely the best hairdresser this side of Perth! Having just celebrated its 10th birthday, Tenjune has rave-reviews... Not just for their quality of work, but also for being such a great team. You will never go in or out of that place without a friendly greeting, and all the girls there are great at their profession. Their gift vouchers are available in-store and you can check out their website here.

Now... time to plug my own business! This year I have two different vouchers available. The first is for Bootcamp and the second is for our upcoming mini-retreats!

Mini-Retreat vouchers:

This year Flora (Still Point Therapy) and I ran our very first Mini-Retreat and the verdict was: Would come again! These retreats are a half-day time-out for anyone that needs to relax, unwind, and put themselves first for a while. We have set the dates for our next 2 Mini-Retreats and now is the time to get tickets. Our introductory price was $50 per ticket, and it will go up next year. These gift vouchers lock in this year's introductory price and are valid for any of the mini-retreats scheduled for 2021.

Bootcamp Membership Vouchers:

Our Bootcamp membership Vouchers are also securing a bargain giving a month of Bootcamp for just $50! So, if you or your loved one has been thinking of getting active in the new year, this is a great way to get started. You can check out more about Bootcamp here and contact Mel for vouchers.

Happy Shopping!
